Dynamic QR Codes for Wineries: Beyond the E-Label

A dynamic marketing QR code lets you point a printed code anywhere and change it any time, without reprinting. Here is how it differs from your e-label QR and where to use it.

Most wineries now know the e-label QR code: the fixed code on the back label that links to legally required product and nutrition information. It has to stay the same for the life of the bottle, and that is exactly what compliance demands.

But that fixed code is not the only QR code a winery needs. Everything else in your marketing, from packaging to posters to event handouts, benefits from a code you can change at any time. That is what a dynamic marketing QR code is for.

What is a dynamic QR code?

A dynamic QR code does not encode your destination directly. Instead it points to a short link that you control. Because the printed code only ever contains that short link, you can change where it leads at any moment without touching the code itself. Print it once, redirect it forever.

That single property unlocks a lot: you can fix a typo in a destination URL after printing, swap a campaign page when the campaign ends, or repoint a poster from last year's event to this year's.

How it differs from the e-label QR code

It helps to keep the two apart, because they do very different jobs.

  • The e-label QR code is the fixed compliance code printed on the bottle. It links to the legally required product and nutrition information and stays identical for the life of the label.
  • The marketing QR code is a separate, freely changeable code for everything else. You decide where it points, change it whenever you like, and track every scan. It is never the code printed on the label as your e-label.

In other words: one keeps you compliant, the other works for your marketing.

What a dynamic marketing QR code can do

In Glasswise, every marketing QR code is more than a redirect. Each one supports:

  • Editable destination. Point it at your website, your shop, or a campaign page and change it any time without reprinting.
  • Expiry and redirect. Give a code an end date and send scans to a fallback page once a campaign or promotion is over.
  • iOS and Android targeting. Send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play, or to any platform specific page.
  • Built-in UTM tracking. Add UTM tags so every scan and campaign shows up directly in your analytics.
  • Country geo-routing. Send visitors from different countries to different landing pages.
  • Print-ready downloads. Export each code as PNG, JPG, or SVG, or grab every format at once as a ZIP for your designer or printer.

Where wineries use them

Anywhere a printed code needs to stay flexible:

  • On packaging and back labels that are not the e-label
  • In print ads, flyers, and brochures
  • On tasting menus and cellar door signage
  • At fairs, tastings, and events
  • On social posts, business cards, and merchandise
  • On posters that point to a shop or campaign page
